Ten Ways Credit Managers get Fired

If you want to know how to keep your job in this turbulent economy, it is important to understand why credit managers get fired.  This is not intended to be a comprehensive list.  Instead, these are ten of the most common reasons that credit professionals lose their jobs:

  1. Poor interpersonal skills
  2. Inadequate follow through
  3. Making incorrect decisions
  4. Taking credit for the work of others, or not accepting responsibility for the mistakes of subordinates
  5. Refusing to compromise
  6. An inability to do the work assigned, or to follow instructions
  7. Performing tasks too slowly
  8. Failing to properly supervise subordinates
  9. Failing to focus on improving interactions with the sales department
  10. Knowingly or unknowingly demonstrating favoritism to one employee over another
