Nonrecurring Charge; Extraordinary Charge

A non-recurring charge is a one time expense that appears on a company's income statement.  An example of a non-recurring charge would be the cost to close a plant.  This cost is non-recurring because once the plant is closed, no similar costs relating to this specific plant closure can occur again.  Extraordinary items are defined as those which are both unusual in nature and which occur infrequently.  Extraordinary items appear on the income statement.
