Levies

A levy is the process by which a sheriff or other court officer acquires possession and control over property that is intended to satisfy a judgment against a debtor. A "writ of execution" is delivered to the sheriff or other authorized official of the county where the debtor's property is located.  The writ directs the official to levy upon and sieze the debtor's property and sell it at a public auction after giving the debtor sufficient notice.
