Financial Statements

Financial statements report on a company's financial condition.  The financial statements that trade creditors typically receive from customers are the Balance Sheet, the Income Statement and the Statement of Cash Flows.  It's usually easy to find information about larger companies directly from the companies themselves, or online, or from brokerage firms, or directly from the SEC.  It can be extremely difficult to find information about small, privately held companies. Companies only have to file reports with the SEC if they have $10 million or more in assets and 500 or more shareholders, or list their securities on a stock exchange such as the NYSE.
