Difficulties Obtaining Financial Statements

Requesting updated financials statements is a sensitive issue with some customers.  Credit professionals do not want to be over-eager in their efforts to gather information about a customer.  If the company does not share financial information with a credit bureau, it might be necessary to ask the customer directly for this information.  Some creditors give the debtor a lengthy explanation of their need for financial data.  Others simply assume the debtor is an intelligent businessperson who probably does not want or need a detailed explanation about a request for current financial statements sent by a creditor.  The request should be sent to a decision maker, and not to a clerk who may not have the authority to release financial statements.
