Customer Credit File; Credit File

The credit department should have a credit file for every customer. This is true whether the customer is sold on open credit terms, letter of credit, or any other payment terms including cash in advance.  This file should contain all the relevant information pertaining to its credit investigation of the credit applicant including documents received from the customer, credit report(s), correspondence, and customer financial statement analysis. Each document should be dated.
