Certified Check

A Certified Check is a check on which the bank on which it is drawn verifies that the maker has sufficient funds in the account to cover the check.  Once a check has been certified, the bank (or other financial institution) will withdraw or in some other way segregate and set aside the amount of the check to ensure that it will not bounce. Cashier’s Checks are much more commonly used than Certified Checks in business-to-business sales.
